It is with great pleasure that I announce the imminent arrival of The Furrow Collective to Dublin for their debut Irish performance. This formidable quartet, comprising of Lucy Farrell, Emily Portman, Alasdair Roberts and Rachel Newton. are fresh-faced veterans of the UK folk scene and were recently nominated for Best Group at the BBC Folk Awards on the back of the success of their superb second album, Wild Hog. There’s something folkish and wonderful stirring here and across the the water at the moment. I know there always is something stirring but there’s something stirring now too and I’m seeing a fearlessness & belief merging with a deep respect for the traditions in acts like The Furrow Collective, Lankum, Richard Dawson et al that I’ve not seen in a while. I think what I’m trying to say is that you should definitely go to this gig. EE
